WHL:

For the 4th time this season, Prince George Cougars sniper Terik Parascak has been named the WHL Rookie of the Week.

The 17-year-old Parascak racked up seven points, including three goals, in three road games helping Prince George to a 2-1 record for the week.

He leads all rookies across the CHL with 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists) in 33 games.

The (24-9) Cougars are first in the WHL and will return to action on Wednesday, December 27 for a home game against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Prince George will also host the Calgary Hitmen on December 28th.

The Cougars are coming off a 9-2 victory over the Vancouver Giants on Saturday in Langley.

The (21-9-2) Vancouver Canucks continue a 4-game road trip tonight (Tuesday 5:00) in Nashville against the (18-13) Predators. Vancouver is second in the Pacific Division three points behind (21-6-5) Vegas.

The Ottawa Senators have sacked head coach D.J. Smith and replaced him on an interim basis with senior adviser Jacques Martin.

Daniel Alfredsson, the Senators all-time points leader, will be an assistant under Martin.

The (11-15) Senators, who visit Arizona tonight (Tuesday), are last in the Atlantic Division.

BCHL:

The (9-15-3) Prince George Spruce Kings are idle until they host the (19-6-3) West Kelowna Warriors on Dec. 29th and 30th.

P.G. entered the break following a 3-0 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters on Saturday.

The Spruce Kings are last in the 8-team Interior Division, five points behind the 7th place (11-13-3-1) Merritt Centennials and six back of the (13-15-1) Cranbrook Bucks.

The Warriors are 2nd, just three points back of the (19-6-3) Penticton Vees.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The (16-5-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars resume league play on January 6th and 7th when they host the Thompson Blazers.

Cariboo is in second place in the 9-team BC Elite Hockey League, three points behind the (17-3-0-2) Vancouver North East Chiefs and just a point ahead of the (16-4) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

NFL: (Final game in Week 15)

Seattle Seahawks  20  Philadelphia Eagles  17

Seattle QB Drew Lock threw a 29-yard touchdown pass with 28 seconds left in the 4th quarter to help the (7-7) Seahawks snap a 4-game losing streak.

The (10-4) Eagles are tied with Dallas for top spot in the NFC East with three games left.
