Local athlete competes in new sport, wins first race

A Canada Winter Games athlete tried her hand a new sport recently, and it turned out to be a great idea.

Prince George’s Callie Swan competed in Short Track Speed Skating in the February games.

However, this past weekend She won her first junior stage road and track cycling event in Elma, Washington:

“Well I have been doing it for a couple of years for training for speed skating, and I just wanted to try something new. Like a new sport, and I really like cycling it just looks fun and honestly it really is a lot of fun”

Swan says she is now gearing up for the Canadian Track Nationals, being held in Milton, Ontario from October 8-11.
