Federal election rolling, leaders exchange jabs

Federal election 42 is in its first week and the national leaders are already making promises and exchanging jabs.

While campaigning in Toronto, Stephen Harper announced his intention to bring back a home renovation tax credit, but only if the economy will allow it.

It was economy that drew the most fire from Justin Trudeau while he was in Mississauga.

“Just yesterday Stephen Harper told Canadians to ‘stay the course, my plan is working, change is too risky’. Well I don’t know who it’s working for, but certainly not for the Canadians I’ve met.”

“In fact, as Stephen Harper steers us back into recession, it shows every sign of actually getting worse.”

Meanwhile, from Montreal NDP leader Tom Mulcair attacked Harper on his handling of the Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement.

“He’s weak, he’s vulnerable, he was never a very good negotiator to begin with. But we are concerned about very important things, like the management of our supply system in dairy, eggs and poultry.”

The first televised debate will be held on August 6th.
