Man travelling from Alaska to Argentina spreading environmental awareness stops in PG

A man driving from Alaska to Argentina to spread awareness of the environment has stopped in Prince George.

“For the last ten years, I started the expedition called ‘MAC’ Mobile Awareness Centre,” said Fabricio Brebion of Aware Nations.

“From a bus we built this ‘MAC’ and we suited this vehicle with everything you can put in a house to become more self sustainable, how you can grow your own food, how you can produce your own electricity, how you can become more environmentally friendly in the way of driving your vehicle because we have a hydrogen combustion engine so we can mix that with fossil fuel and we end up polluting a lot less.”

Brebion said he bought the bus in Los Angeles before making his way up to Alaska.

“Besides that, the main goal of the mission is to show the simplicity it takes to make a difference in people’s lives and the planet,” he explained.

“We do that through awareness campaigns we create in universities and high schools, we do public speaking, we inspire and empower the youth to feel they can live with purpose and make a difference.”

Brebion said the journey to Argnetina will take from three to five years.

“We take our time, as we create projects, we clean up nature, we plant trees, we do different types of awareness campaigns that takes more than just a few days in each place.”

Brebion just arrived in Prince George, and is looking for opportunities to leave a positive impact in the Northern Capital.

“Any place that opens it’s doors for us, we would love to share the message in secondary schools and universities,” he said.

“If we find a place to do something to impact in a positive way, it would be amazing.”

Some examples of projects Brebion’s done included cleaning lakes and rivers.

After he leaves Prince George, he’ll make stops in a few places before heading to Vancouver, where he plans to stay for a few weeks before heading into the states.
