Insights west recently conducted an online survey, and It would appear the majority of British Columbians are taking steps to decrease water consumption during times of extreme heat.
VP of Public affairs Mario Canseco says 95% of British Columbians are supportive of water restrictions in the Province.
While another 69% percent of residents are happy with the way their Municipality handles water supplies:
“There seems to be a high level of satisfaction with the way the Municipal governments are handling water. That level of support is not there for the government of BC, possibly because of all of this discussion that we have had recently related to Nestle and the way they are using BC water.”
All that said, Canseco says two in five still report seeing someone in their neighbourhood watering the lawn during restrictions, while another one in five are seen washing their cars.
He also says 53% of British Columbians believe current watering restriction fines are appropriate; While another 36% actually believe it is too low.
