The Prince George Midget Posse lacrosse team put on an impressive performance as they hosted the BC Minor Lacrosse Provincial Tournament.
The Posse was undefeated through round-robin play, but fell to Port Moody in the gold medal match 7-2.
Jake McIntosh and Andrew Heitman has the team’s lone goals.
The Posse defeated Port Moody in their first matchup of the tournament, but couldn’t put all the pieces together the second time around.
“They definitely put a lot of pressure on you. I thought I had a game plan to counter that, but it just wasn’t being executed,” says Coach Blake McIntosh, “The pressure and atmosphere of a championship game just magnifies everything, so exponentially the mistakes look a lot bigger and cost us more.”
The Posse steamrolled the competition throughout the season, going undefeated in the four tournaments they participated in.
The provincial body for lacrosse decided to bump the team up to the ‘A2’ level for the provincial championship.
“It’s kind of the silver lining- no pun intended,” says McIntosh, “It kind of worked in our advantage, not seeing other teams. I knew we’d be competitive, and we showed that the boys can play with the strong teams in the province, and I’m really proud of them.”
