City joins Suzhou City in MOU

The City of Prince George has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese city of Suzhou.

Mayor Lyn Hall, Council members, and Administration met with their Chinese counterparts in yesterday’s ceremony.

The MOU establishes a mutual partnership with a sister city.

Representatives from Suxhou first came to PG in 2014 because they were interested in buying wood products for a new home furnishing and manufacturing zone being built in the Anhui province.

The sister city agreement also focuses on trade, education, technology, and culture.

“Prince George is strategically located on the shortest trade route between Asia-Pacific and US heartland markets and provides an ideal location for transportation, logistics, manufacturing, and export operations,” says Mayor Hall, “This MOU provides us with a solid base from which to increase understanding among our cities and to establish a mutually profitable long-term relationship.”
