Kodiaks fall to Rams

The Prince George Kodiaks put on a strong showing, but ultimately fell 39-17 to the Langley Rams at Masich Place Stadium last night (Saturday).

Momentum appeared to be in the favour of the Kodiaks in the third quarter after they recovered an onside kick to start the second half.

However, a blocked Kodiaks punt returned for a Langley touchdown to make it 25-10 for the Rams flipping momentum back to the Rams.

After the blocked punt, the Rams Running Back Bruce Jones added two more touchdowns, one on a four-yard rush, and one on a 40-yard screen pass.

“Guys gave ourselves a chance, some things started getting away from us in the fourth quarter,” said Kodiaks Head Coach Jamie Boreham.

“But we played a team that we lost by 60 last week, and we played them to score into the fourth quarter, and I think we got pressing a little bit too much, and maybe gave them some stuff we weren’t earlier.”

Kayle Cowley, who’s spent most of the season as a receiver, took most of the snaps at quarterback, throwing a pair of touchdown passes.

“He’s tall, he’s got some vision, we saw some athleticism, he escaped the pocket, I think he was exciting, and I think the offence kind of rallied around him,” Boreham said.

“I’m happy for Kayle, I’m happy for the improvement of the offence, we saw most of it into the second half, but it was exciting there. The sideline, the guys were excited, and then we just kind of fell apart at the end there.”

Brady Harper also booted a 40-yard field goal for the Kodiaks in the loss.

The Kodiaks (2-4) will travel to Chilliwack to take on the Valley Huskers (4-2) on Saturday.
