Jumpstart Multisport Court expected to open August 31st

Prince George residents will soon have a new option for a few different sports.

The Jumpstart Multisport Court on Massey Drive is expected to open to the public on August 31st.

“It’s designed to enable kids of all abilities to participate in play, sports, parasports,” said City Parks Services Supervisor Robyn McConkey.

“There’s a full size regulation basketball court, there’s a tennis court, there’s four pickleball courts and a self-guided play area.”

Back in February, the City entered into a gift agreement with Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart Charity, who contributed nearly $950,000 for the park.

“It’s just all come together, we can’t thank the generosity of our local Canadian Tire, Selen Alpay, and Jumpstart, partnering with the city to bring this great inclusive accessible play to Carrie Jane Gray through this project,” McConkey said.

“All these months of hard work have come, and it’s just such a cool facility and area that we’re super proud of it.”

McConkey said the court is over 28,000 square feet, and is the largest of it’s kind built to date.
