Local artist showcased in upcoming Two Rivers exhibit

Two Rivers Art Gallery’s newest exhibition will take viewers on a road trip across northern BC.

Emily Wilson’s Up Around the Bend will open to the public on Thursday (August 17th), Two Rivers describes the showcase as “the culmination of many years living and working in Northwestern
British Columbia. The result is a captivating series of paintings that tell an honest story of life in the region, from the majestic mountain peaks to the rustic service stations.”

This will be the first time Wilson, a Prince George local, has ever had her work fully showcased in a gallery.

The collection “takes visitors on an uncanny road trip along Highway 16,” and includes both “the picturesque and the gritty realities of the region.”

Some sights will be familiar to those attending, including billboards for Chicken Racing in Fort St. James.

“Whether you’ve lived your whole life in northern BC or you’ve never set foot near here, I hope these new works will show you both the dark and light, the weirdness and beauty that make this
region unique,” Wilson said.

The Thursday grand opening begins at 7:30, and will include a chance to talk with Wilson about her art.

It will then be showcased as normal from Friday until October 1st.
