A Prince George contractor has been selected by School District 57 to proceed with the demolition of the former Mackenzie Elementary School.
Nass Enterprises Ltd has been providing demolition and handling hazardous materials in the city since 1991.
Work is expected to begin this week with the project to be completed by the end of November.
Mackenzie Elementary first opened in 1966 and closed in 2010. The building has been vacant since that time as the aging infrastructure is too costly to repair.
However, the playground on the property will remain and be maintained by the school district for community use.
