The Alzheimer Society of BC will be in Prince George on August 15th, looking to learn about the experiences of those living with dementia in our community.
“It’s a community dialogue, we want to hear from the community,” Laurie De Croos, Support and Education Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of BC.
“We want to hear from people living with dementia, we want to hear from people supporting people with dementia, including health care professionals, on their experiences with what’s happening in the community.”
De Croos said the session will also help the Alzheimer’s Society will also help them determine where the gaps in supports are for those living with dementia.
De Croos added there are more than 85,000 people in BC living with dementia in our province, but that’s expected to grow to 250,000 by 2050.
“We actually support all dementias at any stage from early onset to end of life,” she said.
“There’s anywhere between 80 and 100 dementias that we support, and many people don’t know that.”
Anyone interested in attending is asked to register on the Alzheimer Society of BC Website.
