Firefighters from all across North America are helping battle the historic number of wildfires in the Prince George Fire Centre.
100 firefighters and two agency representatives arrived in Prince George from Mexico yesterday (Wednesday), according to the BC Wildfire Service they will be deployed into the Omineca and Vanderhoof / Fort St. James areas over the weekend.

This is far from the first international support the Prince George Fire Centre has received.
“To date, we have had 100 US smoke jumpers, 40 firefighters, an incident management team from the US made up of 14 individuals, as well as 16 single resources from the US,” Sharon Nickel, a Prince George Fire Centre Information Officer told My PG Now, adding more are on the way.
Nickel also added the public is the Fire Centre’s greatest ally, and phoned in reports help the Fire Centre identify new fires and other areas of concern – like unauthorized burning in a fire ban – are helpful in giving them a leg up before a fire gets too large.
You can report a fire at 1-800-663-5555, *5555 on a cell phone, or through the BC Wildfire Service App.
