The BC Government and Services Employee Union’s new office building is almost complete.
Building construction is expected to wrap up in August, with the grand opening set to take place on September 26th.
“It’s an investment for our members,” says Union President Stephanie Smith, “This will be an asset that will be owned by the membership in perpetuity. It’s also an investment in the revitalization of Prince George’s downtown core.”
The $7 million building also has many green features.
“90% of the lighting wll be LED, all of the faucets are sensor controlled, with low flush toilets,” explains Smith, “We went into it with the vision of reducing our environmental impact and looking at our greenhouse emissions.”
The city gave the Union 50% of the assesed land value for the building on 5th and Quebec.
