Short film shot at Northern FanCon to premiere at international festival in August

The date is set for Conquest’s world premiere.

The short film was shot in Prince George at Northern FanCon by Barker Street Cinema, it paired local talent with some of the industry professionals that were at the convention as guests.

The film will debut at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal on August 8th.

“Fantasia is a huge champion of promoting new voices in genre cinema,” said Norm Coyne, the writer and producer of Conquest. “It is the perfect place to premiere a story like Conquest and is an absolutely massive opportunity for our team.”

According to Barker Street Cinema, Fantasia is “hailed by Variety magazine as Canada’s hottest festival,” and attracts around 110,000 guests over the three week span every year.

Some names that have premiered at Fantasia include: Kevin Smith, Guillermo Del Toro, James Gunn and Quentin Tarantino who called Fantasia “the most important and prestigious genre film festival on this continent.”

“Fantasia has a spirit of empowerment that echoes the message on and off screen of Conquest,” said Conquest director Kate Kroll. “We are unbelievably proud to be premiering the film at Fantasia.”

Conquest will be one of 200 short films and 120 feature films screened at the festival over a three-week period.
