The latest job numbers are out and while BC saw 15 thousand more people working in June, Prince George was not so lucky.
Stats Canada spokesperson, Vince Ferrao says there was a decline in the number of people employed from the same time last year.
“We have 46,100 people working, and this compares with 50,300 people working from a year ago”.
Ferrao adds the entire Cariboo region has seen a drop in the amount of people working in service industry jobs.
“There was a decline in educational services, personal services, repairs and maintenance and services to private health”.
Prince George’s jobless rate is at 7.4 percent which is almost one percent higher than the national unemployment rate of 6.8 percent.
In BC, unemployment fell to 5.8 percent in last month.
