A time capsule signifying Prince George’s 75th anniversary will be raised on Friday.
The capsule – which is nestled behind the “Welcome to Prince George” sign at highway 16 and 97 – will be raised in the morning. With the public invited to attend the official opening at the Library later in the day.
Here’s Community Coordinator Doug Hoffstead…
“In 1990, the City of Prince George and the Prince George Construction Association created a 75th anniversary time capsule, and they had 75 kids put items into the capsule with the intention of digging it up in 2015”
The library will then be displaying the contents of the capsule for a week, before it goes back to its resting place on July 20th, and wont be re-opened again until 2065.
The opening of the capsule takes place at 3:45 pm at the Bob Harkins Branch, and the public is encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early.
