Three programs to help people suffering from mental health issues have been given the green light from the province.
A new psychiatric liaison nurse will be set up in the emergency room to help give the support to people who come in with mental health issues.
Northern Interior Mental Health and Addictions Director Aaron Bond says there will also be an expansion of the intensive case management team.
“Nurses, life skills workers, that are on 7 days a week,” says Bond, “nine hours a day, that can wrap themselves around folks that need the help in a way that is quite efficient, and as quick as possible.”
The Car 60 program will also see support from the province.
This is where there a mental health nurse rides a long in an RCMP car to help with distress calls.
