WEEK TO END ENBRIDGE INITIATIVE NOW UP TO 500 THOUSAND

The Week to End Enbridge fundraiser across BC has netted some positive results.

Sierra Club of BC spokeswoman Caitlyn Vernon says a variety of organizations stepped up and helped the cause.

“everything from farmers donating the proceeds of their salad greens and their carrots to a local chocolate company donating proceeds from their chocolate bars , there were bakeries involved, soap dispensaries involved, an eco-tourism lodge in the Great Bear Rainforest has donated 45 hundred dollars”

Vernon adds the people of BC have come together and have taken a stand against the Northern Gateway Pipeline during this fundraiser.

“it’s clear with people coming together that they understand first nations can stop this pipeline in the courts and that we all stand to benefit from the outcome whether it’s salmon, liveable climate or drinking water or the jobs that would be put a risk due to oil spills”

A total of 500 thousand dollars has now been raised for the First Nation’s legal defence against the pipeline during the Pull Together campaign.

A dance fundraiser will take place in Prince George on Friday at Moose Hall featuring musical act Black Spruce Bog with the doors opening at 7:30.
