The first-ever Sirens Cup charity hockey game between Prince George Firefighters and the RCMP is right around the corner.
It takes place on February 25th at 4:30 pm from the Kopar Memorial Arena with the money raised going towards the RCMP Victim Services Unit and the PG firefighters Charitable Association.
During a media event today (Monday), Cpl. Jennifer Cooper explained how the idea all came about.
“What started out as whether this should be a casual event between everybody then morphed into a bigger event where we thought we could really bring some light to the friendly rivalry between these two organizations.”
Firefighter, Jason Geddes stated events like these are very common around the province.
“This is not anything new. This is actually done quite a bit throughout the province, there is certainly a lot of our charitable hockey games that go on. This has been done in the past and has sometimes been a joint effort between the two – sometimes against NHL alumni teams.”
The game is being hosted by the Prince George Spruce Kings who will be playing the Penticton Vees later that evening at 7 pm.
Anyone that purchases a ticket, can attend both games.
