New app helps track where moose are

A new app is being tested out that will allow people to track where moose are.

The Spruce City Wildlife Association is trying out the app where people upload moose sightings to see where and how many there are in the province.

President Jim Glaicar says hunters and recreators will be able to use it.

“When they see moose they will be able to report it immediately through that app to the ministry,” says Glaicar, “which will enable residents to give pertinent data to the ministry about our moose and hopefully give us a clear picture about what is happening out there to our populations.”

Glaicar says the concept for the app came out of the Skeena Region and has been developed by stake holders.

He says its not available for users yet, but those wanting to access it can contact the Spruce City Wildlife Association.
