A wind farm just outside of Vanderhoof is chugging along towards a construction start date.
Currently, Innergex, in conjunction with the Saik’uz First Nations are working on an environmental certificate as well an electricity purchase agreement with BC Hydro.
Amrit Dhatt is a spokesperson with Innergex and says they are pleased with the publics support of the project so far:
“So far we have received a lot of encouragement from the community of Vanderhoof as well as a Saik’uz. We know this is a good project and we really appreciate the support and feedback and we will continue to work together with the community to make this project a success”
The Wind Farm would provide power for upwards of 50 thousand homes within the area, and construction – barring any unforeseen circumstances – is slated to begin in 2017, with operations potentially beginning in 2019.
