The City of Prince George has addressed where and how there needs to be changes when it comes to housing.
Council has adopted a series of items that give council a direction to provide affordable housing
Sustainable Development Manager Tina Watt says the biggest obstacle is having more options in the city.
“For example having a lot more multi family developments where traditionally we haven’t been seeing that a lot ,” says Watt, “and been hearing it, its just in terms of the construction dollars its been making it very difficult to do that.”
Watt says there is also a demand for laneway housing, where a smaller house is built onto an existing lot.
She says currently zoning bylaws don’t allow for that type of development.
