Over 8-thousand pounds of food and 28 hundred dollars in cash and gift cards were donated by the public during the Cram-a-Cruiser fundraiser held by the Prince George RCMP.
Officers, 9-1-1 dispatchers, and other volunteers greeted shoppers on their way into three Save on Foods locations in the city asking for donations on Saturday.
Cpl. Jennifer Cooper spoke with MyPGNow.com on the event’s success.
“We had people reaching into their pockets for the bit of spare change that they were able to find as well as pulling out two large carts of groceries and donating the whole thing.”
“This exceeded all of our expectations and we have the generosity of those who participated to thank for such an amazing result. The Salvation Army is a valuable partner as they work closely with our Victim Services Unit helping families during times of crisis.”
All the proceeds will go to support the Salvation Army Food Bank.
