BC’s Ministry of Justice has launched a new website to help tackle distracted driving.
It is called engage.gov.bc.ca/distracteddriving.
The province is collecting comments from residents on whether or not the current fine of 167-dollars and three penalty points is severe enough.
BC’s $167 distracted driving fine is 2nd lowest in Canada, compared to $579 in Nova Scotia and up to $1,000 in Ontario
A four week consultation began today and runs until July 16th.
Distracted driving is the second leading cause of motor vehicle deaths in the province.
If you want to participate you can visit the website or tweet @RoadSafeBC using the hashtag #distractedBC.
