City spends upwards of $75,000 upgrading website

A website revamp has set the city back between $60,000 and $75,000.

They say the new site is “much more accessible than its predecessor,” and now falls in line with the province’s Accessible British Columbia Act which requires facilities and services to be fully accessible by late 2023.

The visual difference between the old and new site is not stark, but most of the changes took place behind the scenes.

They have replaced Microsoft’s SharePoint 2013 content management system that they were using with Drupal, a more modern and flexible option.

Microsoft is ending support for SharePoint 2013 in 2023.

The city set aside $100,000 for the project, they are still waiting for all invoices to be submitted before they can release a final cost.

You can take a look at the website here.
