Steps to disband IPG announced

More details on what will happen to economic development have been released.

Last week the city announced they will be disbanding Initiatives Prince George and bringing those services in house.

City Manager Kathleen Soltis says now a select standing committee on economic development will help in the transition.

“The select committee is going to look at, council’s priorities for economic development, and have discussions around how limited resources should be spent,” says Soltis, “what the city department should be focusing on.”

Soltis says the committee will hopefully be done their work by September 30th of this year.

She says IPG CEO Heather Oland has been offered a manager’s role with the city, but have given her time to consider taking the position.
