PG hockey product Victor Gervais named to ECHL Hall of Fame

A well-known Prince George hockey player is headed to the ECHL Hall of Fame.

Former Spruce King and Seattle Thunderbirds star Victor Gervais are one of four people selected for the Class of 2023.

Gervais notched 462 points in 266 career ECHL games, most notably with the Hampton Roads Admirals where he won a Kelly Cup championship in 1998.

He is also one of 31 players in league history to record 300 assists.

During the 1992-93 season, he led the ECHL with 80 assists while finishing second with 118 points in 59 games.

In addition, his 1.15 assists-per-game average over his career is tied for the top spot in league history.

Gervais also spent five years in Germany with the Frankfurt Lions.

The Prince George product was a 9th-round pick of the Washington Capitals in 1987.

During his four years with the Thunderbirds, he played alongside fellow PG products Turner Steveson, as well as Stew and Kevin Malgunas.

Gervais also had the privilege of playing with NHL stars like Petr Nedved, who posted 145 points with Seattle in the 1989-90 WHL season.

Not to be outdone, Gervais finished second in team scoring that year with an eye-popping 160 points in 69 games, which included 94 assists.

Prior to joining Seattle, Gervais suited up for the Spruce Kings in the 1985-86 season where he had 70 goals and 85 assists in 55 games in the PCJHL.

That team also included Tony Twist who became a well-known NHL enforcer with the St. Louis Blues and Quebec Nordiques.

The 2023 ECHL Hall of Fame ceremony, will take place on January 16th.
