“I’m so relieved,”: Exploration Place CEO elated renovation project has crossed finish line

After a 2.5-year wait, PG’s Exploration Place offered a sneak peek to the media and other stakeholders on the newly-renovated facility this morning (Wednesday).

The museum has a number of new features including a Bee exhibit as well as sections dedicated to Indigenous culture, Mr. PG, and some vintage film industry equipment.

CEO, Tracy Calogheros told MyPGNow.com they are open to expanding even further and working with other groups.

“When the community comes in to explore everything that we have done, they are going to want to bring input to the table and we’ve left space to do that because we would like to take the same approach that we have had with reconciliation and the Lheidli T’enneh and apply that to other groups like neighboring Indigenous nations.”

She added the fresh look is an extension of their Indigenous roots with the Lheidli T’enneh and other topics of cultural significance.

“I really think that the transformation you inside is more to do with catching up with on things like climate change and some other equity-seeking groups around the South Asian community, the Chinese community, and the Black community, which all had amazing contributions.”

Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, Area C Director Lara Beckett noted that Exploration Place has done a remarkable job of transforming it into a top-notch facility.

“There is going to be more space for travelling exhibits, certainly all the things we loved about Exploration Place are continuing and the partnership with the Lheidli T’enneh has been strengthened.”

Beckett added the interpretation of climate change is a big piece for the community to behold.

“Right back from the dinosaurs and the mastodon that’s in the gallery. Using all of that to explain the science behind climate change to the community that is one piece of the changes that the Exploration Place has put together for the community here.”

The public grand opening is set for Saturday.
