After more than 15 years, the Maniac Wrestling Alliance Ironman Tournament returned to Prince George under the new name, the Prime Time Tournament.
The weekend event on October 14 and 15 was able to raise more than $1,000 in honour of Paul English, known as Prime Time Franky Styles in the ring, who died by suicide last year.
“All in all, everything went really well” said Stuart Brown, English’s former wrestling coach and one of the wrestlers in the tournament. “The matches were strong, the crowd was hot and engaged, it was really good.”
All the money raised went to the Crisis Prevention, Intervention & Information Centre, and Brown says the tournament will continue as an annual event in Prince George.
“[The wrestlers] enjoyed it greatly, and a lot of them asked if they could come back again already” Brown said.
