The Ottawa Police Services Board has selected former Prince George RCMP Superintendent Eric Stubbs to be the nation’s capital’s new Chief of Police.
“What impressed the Board the most about Chief Select Stubbs, in addition to his knowledge and experience, is his ability to connect with people,” said Board Chair Eli El-Chantiry.
“We are confident he will earn the trust, confidence, and hearts of the members of the Ottawa Police Service.”
Stubbs was the Superintendent of the Prince George RCMP from 2011 to 2014, before transferring to RCMP Headquarters in Ottawa to become the Director General of National Criminal Operations.
He held that position until 2017 when he returned to BC, and has since been in charge of Core Criminal Operations for the BC RCMP.
“It is truly an honour and I am humbled to become the police chief in the Capital of Canada,” Stubbs said.
“I’m looking forward to working with the great civilian and sworn of the Ottawa Police Service, as we all work together with the communities we serve.”
