The Lheidli T’enneh First Nation will be staying neutral and will not endorse any candidates ahead of Saturday’s Municipal Election.
In a release, Chief Dolleen Logan stated:
“Our nation enjoys excellent working relationships with all the local governments in our unceded territory. These include the City of Prince George, Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, Village of McBride, Village of Valemount, and School District 57.”
“We are pleased that a couple of Indigenous candidates are running in this local government election. Indigenous people are part of all local governments and it is positive to see Indigenous candidates seeking election to become part of these important institutions. However, our nation has supported a long-standing policy of not endorsing any candidates in local, provincial, or federal elections. We choose instead to wish all candidates in all government elections the best of luck and we look forward to working with those elected by the citizens they serve.”
Voting on election day runs from 8 am to 8 pm.
