Housing starts see slight dip in May

Housing starts in Prince George in May were on par with where they were the same time last year.

CMHC is reporting that eleven homes broke ground in the city last month.

Analyst Serena Teakles says this compares to 14 homes that started up in May 2014.

“Although this does look like a little bit of a dip for the month of May,” says Teakles, “overall in the year we are seeing housing starts being up two-fold, there have been 84 housing starts in the first five months of 2015, compared to 41 the same time last year.”

Teakles says they are predicting 185 housing starts in the city.

Across the province 2162 houses broke ground.
