Tourism season well underway in PG

Tourism is expected to continue to be high for the rest of the summer.

With the month of June well underway, this is starting to be the busiest time for tourism.

Tourism Prince George CEO Erica Hummel says they predict a steady increase in the number of tourists coming to town.

“It doesn’t go up a lot every year,” says Hummel, “the trend is is that people aren’t using the visitor centres as much any more, they are using their mobile phones for a lot of the needs, so the fact that we are holding steady and seeing some increase is really fantastic.”

Hummel says in 2014, 17,600 people came through the visitor centre in Prince George.

She says they are seeing a good run-off of tourism from the Canada Winter Games.
