A female hockey player from the Cariboo has snagged an NCAA Division 1 scholarship to play women’s hockey.
The Northern Capitals announced today (Wednesday) that Rachel Loewen committed to the Niagara Purple Eagles.
Loewen posted 3 goals and 7 assists in 29 regular season games last season, helping secure the 2nd overall seed in the BC Elite Hockey League’s U18 Female AAA league.
” I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to Niagara University. Huge weight off my shoulders that allows me to shift all my focus onto my senior year with the Capitals!” – said Loewen via news release.
The Caps (1-1) are back in regular season action on Friday against the Greater Vancouver Comets at 10am from the Surrey Sport & Leisure Centre Arena.
