SPARC promotes greater accessibility in communities

The Social Planning and Research Council of BC is promoting accessibility today as part of Access Awareness Day.

This is where the group tries to encourage municipalities to think about making their communities more accessible for residents.

SPARC Executive Assistant Alla Timofeyeva says this is a way for them and municipalities to work together.

“But to promote great accessibility that’s what the day is about,” says Timofeyeva, “and then the community picks it up and accessibility and inclusion is a very well spoken topic.”

Timofeyeva says all municipalities are trying to make their communities more accessible.

She says this includes anything that improves physical access to those who have mobility issues.
