A local coach has been recognized as one of three recipients of the 2014 ViaSport Coach of the year awards.
Nicole Ebert is the Regional Grassroots coach of the year for her Speed Skating contributions.
Shes been a heavy advocate of the sport, and was part of the group who helped form the Nechako Lakes Clippers into what it is today.
Ebert says it all came as a huge surprise:
“So I looked at this letter and went, umm… where did this come from? Because I didn’t know I was nominated. So it was really neat, you feel a little funny because there are so many amazing coaches in town and I’ve had incredible mentors and support from all the other coaches around, in town and around the area”
With awards like these, Viasport is aiming to increase awareness, opportunities, and participation for sports across BC.
