“It means the world to me:” Kaleb Dahlgren, Humboldt bus crash survivor, will speak at UNBC legacy night

Enjoy the grind, focus on what you can control, and have gratitude in all aspects of life.

These will be some of Kaleb Dahlgren’s key points at UNBC’s 8th annual Timberwolves Legacy Night on Thursday, November 10th.

Dahlgren is a survivor of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash over four years ago that killed 16 people.

“I suffered quite a few severe injuries,” Dahlgren told My PG Now. “Most severe is my traumatic brain injury. That one is still an ongoing process, I think it’s a lifelong one.”

“I have been taking lots of great steps in the right way forward to heal and to be the best version I can be, and that includes the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual sides” he said, adding that he feels “fully healed today.”

He is currently in his second year of chiropractors college, and is a #1 bestselling author.

“I had tons of people tell me I should write a book.”

Dahlgren said he laughed when people would suggest that, “I said I have a severe traumatic brain injury, I don’t think that’s possible right now.”

In the end, he says it was a professor that inspired him to put pen to paper by simply saying “If we want to change the world, it starts with you.”

The book is called Crossroads: My Story of Tragedy and Resilience as a Humboldt Bronco.

Dahlgren says he has donated all profits from the book to STARS Air Ambulance – who were first responders on the scene of the April 6th Broncos crash.

Besides being a student (who is currently enrolled in 14 courses), speaker, and best selling author, he is also a national ambassador with multiple non-profit organizations, and has just hit five years in his Dahlgren’s diabetes program; “It is a program for type one diabetic children, to mentor them and be a support in their life, and let them know that they can still pursue their passions.”

Looking forward to the UNBC legacy night, he says he is “really excited to connecting with the audience. For me, the whole idea of this is to connect and be vulnerable, and in turn hopefully have them be vulnerable with me too”
