Frank Everitt has announced his name will not be on the ballot in the October 15th municipal election.
He is the second long-time member to announce he is stepping down from his council chair along with Murry Krause.
Everett has not been available for an interview but did issue the following statement to the media.
“As many of you may already know I will not be seeking re-election for a fourth term.
Thank you to the citizens of Prince George for giving me the privilege to be on city council for the past eleven years.
Together, with my fellow councillors we have seen record-breaking investment in our city in both residential and commercial buildings.
Our city is certainly living up to its name as the Northern Capital and hub for the north!
Families continue to move here for work and affordable housing, in one of the best areas in the province.
My thanks to city staff and council as they focused on working on each and every issue that came into council chambers.
Please accept my thanks to those that supported me and those who in-trusted me with their vote.
Lastly, let me say thank you to my wife Kathy and family for allowing me to pursue my passion within our community.”
A couple of PG city councillors Cori Ramsay and Kyle Sampson are looking to keep their seat, while another councillor, Terri McConnachie is one of four confirmed candidates running for Mayor to replace Lyn Hall.
The others are lawyer Roy Stewart, PG Chamber CEO Todd Corrigall and local businessman Chris Wood.
Hall will be stepping down this fall once his term is up.
