Downtown PG looking to beautify core for summer

Getting the city’s core ready for summer is the focus of Downtown Prince George.

The organization will be spending this week setting up 200 fresh flower baskets within the downtown.

Executive Director Carla Johnston says they will be put up in the 3rd and 4th Avenue area.

“The closer you get to Victoria Street the fewer actual hooks we have to hang baskets on” says Johnston, “and primarily all along third and along George, and all along fourth there are a handful of businesses that have brackets hanging off their buildings, sometimes business owners put in their own orders.”

Johnston says they are also working with the city’s outdoor cleaning program called Groundwork PG.

She says they are going around the city, pulling weeds and repainting graffiti in the city.
