A 45 year old Prince George man is in custody after running from police in a vehicle with stolen plates on Friday (August 5) afternoon.
At around 2:00, RCMP attempted to stop a black Honda Civic with stolen plates.
The driver took off, trying to get away, but turned down a dead end street.
When he turned around, a spike belt was waiting for him and all the tires on the car were popped.
Despite this, he continued to drive up Peden Hill into College Heights, again swerving around police vehicles set up at the intersection of Highway 16 and Domano and turned into the Canadian Tire parking lot, where the car could go no further.
“The vehicle became inoperable due to its condition. When stopped, the driver did not comply with police direction to exit the vehicle and was attempting to continue driving. A conducted energy weapon was deployed and the driver was arrested.” stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. “Police identified the driver as 45-year-old, Prince George resident Gordon Peltz, who is known to police for similar offenses.”
Peltz has been charged with flight from police, resisting arrest, refusing to comply with demand, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He will remain in custody until his court appearance.
