UNBC Professor looks at impacts of Moose – Vehicle collisions

A new survey from a UNBC professor is looking to shed light on the impacts of a Deer or Moose – Vehicle collision.

Roy Rea is a senior lab instructor at UNBC, and says he wants to determine a number of things including how a moose death affects the population, and where collisions are most likely to occur, but also looks to uncover another issue:

“One of the things we are interested in, are the long term emotional, physical, and psychological impacts to people who have hit either of these animals, and for those who have hit moose these kinds of collisions tend to be more traumatic and some of the emotional and physical injuries tend to be more long term”

Rea says this will also provide another positive, as he believes if they can gather 100 or 200 respondents to the survey who report on both short and long term effects, Paramedics will be able to obtain a far better idea of what they are going to find on scene, and can then provide better care in a collision.
