Prince George City Council has given the thumbs up to a new initiative that promotes a healthy community.
The Blue Dot Movement, a campaign from the David Suzuki Foundation, is to ask local government to enact legislation that declares citizens right to a healthy environment.
This includes clean drinking water, fresh air and safe food.
Group Member David Gerein says much of what the campaign pushes for PG already has.
“The reason we presented it to council, to get the city’s support for what is being put forward by the Suzuki Foundation.”
Council has now directed staff to see how the Blue Dot initiative can be adapted by PG.
