The Prince George Hospice and Palliative Care Society is holding the Colour Walk event at the CN Centre Parking lot on Sunday (May 29th) from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Sandra Klimm is the organizer for the event, and said everyone is invited to come out and participate.
“The event actually comes in two sections, one was the challenge to walk 100 KM for the month of May. And now at the end of this month, we are celebrating those people who have walked the entire month of May, as well ass celebrating life with colour. So everyone is invited to come down.”
She added entry to the event is by donation if people are able.
“Come down, where an old white shirt. We encourage people to wear white because it does show off the powder most effectively. Bring some sunglasses to protect your eyes from the powder, it is a safe, corn starch, non toxic powder. And maybe bring a zip-loc bag to put your cellphones in, because you don’t want to get that powder in your cellphone.”
Klimm said they’ll be walking a quarter kilometre loop, and eight colour stations, run by sponsors, will be throwing different coloured powder as people walk by.
Funds raised from this year’s Colour Walk are going towards an outdoor recreation shed for Hospice.
“There’s a lot of people that don’t feel comfortable just coming into a group and talking about their grief. So this is a place where you can create things, build things, fix things, maybe work on a car, maybe work on a project, and just kind of be able to be surrounded by people and grieve in that way.”
