Six files of assault, 21 thefts, and three weapons complaints were just a few of the calls Prince George RCMP responded to between Friday afternoon and Monday (yesterday) night.
349 total calls for service were seen in that time, but Cpl Jen Cooper said that number has actually declined.
“Our holiday weekends tend to be fairly busy, as we usually get our first bout of warm weather around this time. This year, however, Prince George enjoyed the sunny weekend responsibly, showing a decrease in calls of 23% over 2021.”
Cooper said police also kept busy with roadside stops.
“In addition, May 21st was National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, and our officers were out at two different roadside stops throughout the day. They checked a total of 250 vehicles at these stops. They issued four Provincial Roadside Suspensions for alcohol impairment, and three 90 Day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions.”
Cooper noted that May 21st also kicked off Safe Boating Awareness week, and said the punishment for driving a boat impaired is the same as driving a vehicle impaired.
She added that the RCMP is also encouraging residents in Prince George to give their opinion on the RCMP with the survey on the City of Prince George’s website that’s running until June 1st.
