PG receives $50,000 for low income families

$50,000 in government funding will expand PG’s leisure access-pass program.

The Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction said that there will be a focus on high-risk schools.

Prince George is one of 18 projects supported as part of the Union of B.C. Municipalities’ (UBCM) Poverty Reduction Planning and Action Program.

“These grants will support action at the local level. Municipalities will work with community partners to develop strategies that can break the cycle of poverty, strengthening communities and improving the lives of all British Columbians,” said Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction Nicholas Simons.

Over $1 million provincewide has been handed out for projects that align with TogetherBC.

“These projects build upon local government relationships and will aid participants in identifying the unique needs of vulnerable and low-income people in each community,” said Laurey-Anne Roodenburg, UBCM president.
