A pair of applications to allow for cannabis production within the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George received tremendous support from the Board of Directors.
The first request for an over 56-hectare parcel of land on Blackwater Road passed by a 10-4 vote.
In addition, a second proposal for a nearly 4.5-hectare parcel located on Horsehoe Drive received unanimous approval.
Lastly, the Regional District will also be forwarding a letter to the BC Government issuing its concerns regarding proposed changes to increase requirements for emergency medical training.
The Board is concerned an increase in training requirements from the Emergency Medical Assistance Regulation changes could force volunteer fire departments to terminate their provision of the medical First Responder Program service due to an increased scope in skills.
The Regional District board also approved the following requests for Community and Recreation Grants:

- $1500 to the Nukko Lake Recreation Commission for an Easter event.

- $15,275 to the Bear Lake Recreation Commission for community hall kitchen appliances
- $15,000 to the Mackenzie Firefighters Association for toolboxes and storage bins
- Â $2509 to the Summit Lake Community Association for beetle mitigation works
- $5000 to the McBride and District Volunteer Firefighters Association for a sprinkler program
- $1817 to the McBride Farmers Institute for insurance
- $2500 to the Robson Valley Musical Festival for first aid expenses
- Â $4000 to the Robson Valley Spay and Neuter Society for program expense
