PG CMHA branch receiving grant to tackle racism

The Prince George branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) of Northern BC is receiving $5,000 training.

The branch is one of 60 organizations in the province receiving funding through the BC Multicultural grants programs.

“Over the past two years, we’ve seen a staggering increase in racism and hate incidents in B.C.,” said Rachna Singh, Parliamentary Secretary for Anti-Racism Initiatives.

“These grants are one of many steps in our fight against racism, helping organizations on the ground address systemic racism. This is important work, and I am grateful to everyone stepping up to build anti-racist workplaces and communities.”

According to a release from the provincial government, the funding will go towards a two-day, intensive training session for all staff on the impact of colonialism and racism on Indigenous Peoples served by CMHA of Northern BC.
