RCMP holding open house to meet therapy dogs

The public has a chance to play with an RCMP Therapy Dog.

Tomorrow is National Therapy Animal Day and the RCMP is hosting an open house for people to check out.

Victim Services Coordinator Krista Levar says the three dogs have been with the detachment for a year and a half.

“And people often only get to see them, at tragic scenes,” says Levar, “of if they are in the office for some reason, so this is just an opportunity to say hello to Max Grimmus and Freddie.”

Levar says they typically use the dogs at crashes, court rooms and during interviews.

The open house goes from 3:30 to 5 pm at the detachment on Victoria Street.
