Taseko sees another rejection in New Prosperity court case

The company trying to set up a copper-gold mine in the Cariboo has hit another wall.

The federal court has rejected Taseko Mines application to sue the federal government over the handling of the approval process.

V-P Corporate Affairs Brian Battison says the company thought the process was poorly run and they didn’t get administrative fairness.

“During that process, a mistake by Natural Resources Canada was made,” says Battison, “and the panel relied on that mistake, to arrive at the wrong conclusion.”

However the federal court has said that Taseko can pursue damages against the federal government in a separate court action.

The company is planning on making a billion dollar investment in the Cariboo to get the project set up.
